Kingman Island Cleanup & Boat Tour: Group 1

DATE: Saturday 6/6/26   TIME: 11:00am - 1:00pm

Explore Kingman Island, a man-made island that has become a vital natural ecosystem in the Anacostia River in Northeast and Southeast Washington, DC. This hands-on program combines a guided boat tour with a group cleanup, giving participants the chance to experience the river up close while helping care for it.

Led by the Anacostia Riverkeepers and Living Classrooms, the program explores the island’s history, its environmental transformation, and the importance of equitable access to waterfront spaces. Participants will learn about ongoing efforts to restore and protect the Anacostia River, how this work supports both environmental and community health, and future plans for Kingman Island and the surrounding river corridor.

Participants are encouraged to come ready to learn, connect, and make a positive impact on the future of the Anacostia River.

Meeting Location:

RFK Lot Entrance (also known as the Rainbow Bridge)
