The Moth StorySLAM is an open-mic storytelling competition in which anyone can share a true, personal, 5-minute story on the night's theme. Sign up for a chance to tell a story or sit back and enjoy the show! Tonight’s theme is CHANGE MAKERS.

CHANGE MAKERS prepare five-minute story of change. The power of rebellion, renewal, or ridding a system of evil. Either macro or micro, tell us about a moment of complete transformation, progression, regression. A call to arms or a call to action, share a story of change, courage, and the power of resistance.

We want to hear about the times you stood up, showed up, or spoke out for your city, your neighborhood, or community. Whether you rallied neighbors to save a park, canvassed for a cause, or spoke up at a tense town hall meeting. Organizing, protesting, volunteering, or simply refusing to stay silent, tell us about the times where you discovered you had the power to make change.

This is about the heart of the city and the heart it takes to change it. Share moments of resilience, rebellion, and everyday heroism: participating in a demonstration, planting a tree, saving a historic landmark, reimagining a block, rebuilding after disaster, or rallying a community to demand change. We want to hear about the courage, grit, and persistence that shape the future of our built environment.

Exhibitions on the first floor will be open from 6 to 7pm.

How it Works 

When the doors open, storyteller hopefuls put their names in The Moth “hat." A half hour later, names are picked, and one by one, storytellers take the stage. The ten featured stories are scored by teams of judges selected from the audience. Each StorySLAM generates a StorySLAM winner. After ten SLAMs, the winners face off in a GrandSLAM Championship. Come sign up to tell a story or just enjoy the show! 

Seating is not guaranteed and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please be sure to arrive at least 10 minutes before the show. Admission is not guaranteed for late arrivals. All sales final. We will not be selling any tickets at the door.
