The Moth StorySLAM is an open-mic storytelling competition in which anyone can share a true, personal, 5-minute story on the night's theme. Sign up for a chance to tell a story or sit back and enjoy the show!  

Tonight’s theme is NEIGHBORHOODS.  

Prepare a five-minute story about communities. How does the design of your neighborhood create the backdrop for human connection? The nosy grandma two doors down, boisterous kids on the stoop, block parties that turn streets into gathering spaces. What places set the rhythm of your community? The playground down the block, the local corner store, the church up the street. From glass houses with nothing to hide to parking spot battles on overcrowded streets, the way we build shapes how we collide, connect, and coexist. Think about noise bleeding through shared walls—or your soulmate living just a few feet away.  

Seating is not guaranteed and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please be sure to arrive at least 10 minutes before the show.

Exhibitions on the first floor will be open from 6-7 pm 

How it Works 

When the doors open, storyteller hopefuls put their names in The Moth “hat." A half hour later, names are picked, and one by one, storytellers take the stage. The ten featured stories are scored by teams of judges selected from the audience. Each StorySLAM generates a StorySLAM winner. After ten SLAMs, the winners face off in a GrandSLAM Championship. Come sign up to tell a story or just enjoy the show!
