Vlastimil Koubek, a modernist architect, immigrated to the United States in 1952 and designed nearly 100 buildings in the DMV area during his lifetime. The Museum recently acquired Koubek Architects’ entire business and architectural archive, documenting the development and construction of several prominent buildings in the city, including the Willard Hotel renovation in 1974, the Brawner Building, the Washington Harbor Waterfront, the Camden Yards Sports Complex master site plan, and DC’s “Darth Vader” Building.
